Grade 7 Student Drowned In Bulan town

A Grade 7 student who was off for a casual outdoor swimming in a dam was drowned when he was pulled away by a raging river due to the heavy rainfall at 4:00 pm yesterday, February 21,2020 in Lajong, Bulan, Sorsogon.

Police have identified the victim as Peterson Gipiga Ginga, who, together with another teenager Benjie Borral ventured on swimming along the river dam.

Major Joel Trinanes, Bulan police chief in his report said that it was Purisima Ginga 42yo of Sta Remedios village, mother of the victim who have reported the incident to the police station.

The mother stated the that his son and Benjie didn't not expect that the river's current is going to be turbulent on a heavy rain.

As the buddies were swept away by the raging river, Benjie struggled to make into the river bank.

But his friend Peter unfortunately sank into the rapids and just until after an hour that his lifeless body have surfaced.

The responding personnel of Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office brought the victim to Pantaleon Memorial District Hospital in Bulan but was declared dead-on-arrival.# (Police report)
