DOH: No Covid-19 community transmission in Bicol
Dr. Ernie Vera, DOH-Bicol regional director, in a statement on Wednesday said as of today there is no declaration of Covid-19 contagion in the communities of the region by the Epidemiology Bureau (EB).
“There is certain clustering in some barangays in the region but clustering is different from local transmission. Clustering means there are two or more Covid-19 cases in the identified barangays,” he said.
Vera added that by definition, community transmission means areas are experiencing larger outbreaks.
“Local transmission defined through assessment of factors include, but (is) not limited to: (1) large numbers of cases not linkable to transmission chains, (2) large numbers of cases from sentinel lab surveillance, and (3) multiple unrelated clusters in several areas of a territory,” he said.
The DOH and Bicol Inter-Agency Task Force, according to Vera, provides local government units (LGUs) with guidance as to actions to be taken to prevent the spread of the virus in their barangays and nearby areas.
He urged the public to continuously be vigilant against Covid-19 by maintaining safe physical distancing, using face mask and following other preventive measures at all times.
Meanwhile, Vera urged all returnees to Bicol from Metro Manila and other areas to coordinate with their LGUs and follow isolation and quarantine procedures.
Cooperation and discipline are crucial at this time of crisis, he said. (PNA)
